Working for our students means transparent communications.
Lisa Nelson knows how to talk about challenging topics with different audiences because she does it every day.
Lisa prioritizes student input and has the skills to make sure they’re heard.
Whether the topic is school construction or balancing academic and emotional needs, Lisa has a history of including the most important voices every time: students. Making sure they’re heard is where her communication skills come in.
Recently, Lisa joined the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) as their liaison to elected officials.
She talks regularly with individuals at every level of government — most of whom do not have extensive child welfare experience — about a range of topics, including initiatives that support the most vulnerable children and families.
It’s Lisa’s job to advocate to them in language that makes sense, so they understand the needs and goals of DCYF.
Lisa will use these skills as a member of the Barrington School Committee to the benefit of our town and, most importantly, our students.
